The touch pad comprises of several layers of material. The top layer is the pad touched by you. Under the top layer, there are other layers (separated by very thin insulation) containing horizontal and vertical rows of electrodes that become a grid. Under these layers is a circuit board to which the grid layers are connected. The layers with grid are then charged with a constant alternating current (AC). Your touch approaches the electrode grid, the current is interrupted and detected by the CPU. The initial location where the finger has come in contact with the pad is registered so that subsequent finger movement will be related from that initial point onwards. We specialize in precise repairs of this nature and try to ensure till the last possibility that the part is repaired and changing the same be the last option.
